American Medical Student Association (AMSA)

Wellness & Student Life Committee

Provides a link to a variety of resources for medical students.  AMSA has a “Mastermind” project which was spurred to development by an NUMS student.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

Suicide Prevention

This presents a broad range of information, from statistics to podcasts.  Use the outline located in a frame on the left side of the page as a guide to broad topic categories.

Centre for Suicide Prevention

A vast information resource from Canada, it contains links to many articles, as well as training programs.  This is also the home of the SIEC database, available through a subscription, which is a searchable catalog of all of the Centre’s resources.

The Jed Foundation

An organization “working to reduce emotional distress and prevent suicide among college students.”  It contains resources targeted at students, parents, campus professionals, and supporters.

Living with Suicide: Shared Experiences and Voices of Loss

This is a Web-based PBS program.  It is intended for an audience of suicide survivors

National Association for People of Color Against Suicide (NOPCAS)

Contains information on how to define a culturally-competent program, as well as other resource information – links, articles, etc.

National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)

Provides statistical information, as well as links to clinical trials and publications.

Reach Campaign

A model suicide prevention program at The Ohio State University.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)

Suicide Prevention

Contains a link to the SAMHSA Suicide Prevention Resource Center as well as a Mental Health Services Locator.

Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC)

Contains suicide prevention basics, a registry of best practices, and a special section on college and university topics and resources.
