NCME TV

NCME TV is a series of continuing medical education video and news programs on topics of interest to primary care physicians and other specialists. These Web-based programs are grouped into four main categories:

  1. Masters Programs on Critical Topics in Medicine.
  2. State-Mandated CME Topics
  3. Programs Covering Hospital Quality/Performance/Credentialing Issues
  4. Late-Breaking & Hot Topics

Programs are presented in a Grand Rounds style.

Types of CME Opportunities from NCME TV

Each month, a new CME video is developed and released to the NCME Web site*. Registered users will receive an e-mail notice of availability and should use their password to access the program and view it. A self-assessment quiz is included as part of the activity and may be completed online; CME certificates are automatically generated.

Additionally, Daily Medical News Alerts are available from NCME TV and are a further source of CME credits. Physicians simply read the brief stories, which are sent via e-mail, review the “Heart of the Matter” take-away message, and complete the online evaluation for up to 0.25 Category 1 Credits per story.

How much, and what kind of CME credit is offered?

NCME is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

All NCME TV programs are certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit on an hour-for-hour basis. Most are designated for up to 1 Category 1 credit. Daily Medical News Alerts are certified for up to 0.25 Category 1 Credits

In addition, most video programs are certified for Prescribed Credit by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and Category 2A credit from the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
